CHATHAM ISLAND AKE AKE -Shrub or small tree native to New Zealand. Attractive deeply furrowed bark, broadly oval leaves shiny dark green on top, white and hairy underneath. Insignifacant summer flowers, grown for foliage, hedging and prefers coastal 7 drier soils. Can withstands frost up to minus 8oC . Does not like wet feet. Height 4m x 2.5m.
